Unusual Holiday Gifts

Is it horrible to use gift cards to buy holiday presents?

I still need to buy Hannukah presents for my family, but I'm broke ($7 to be exact). However, I do have a lot of gift cards. Is it horrible to use them to buy them something? (They'll know I used the gift cards)

  1. money is money
  2. Not horrible at all. I do this too! (not for Hanukkah, but other occasions)
  3. absolutly not, its the thought that counts
  4. I don't think it's horrible to use the cards to buy gifts, they were given to you to buy what you wanted to buy. I think it's pretty unselfish of you to use them for other people!
  5. Not at all. Most of my Christmas shopping was done with gift cards earned as bonuses from credit cards. I use them to my advantage and end up earning money without paying a dime of interest.. I'm not cheap, just thrifty : ) Hey, who cares where it comes from, it's not like they'll ask!
  6. I don't think it's horrible to use the gift cards...they were preumably given to you to use as you choose.
  7. No it's not horrible, actually, the thought kind of chokes me up... That was money that was given to you to use toward items you want. If you use them to buy gifts, this is perfectly reasonable.
  8. i don't think so. using gift cards are as good as paying cash, so it doesn't really matter but if you are going to regift your gift cards, that's a different story coz it will depend on the receiver of the gift. but you know what, when receiving a gift... it's the thought and sincerity that always counts...
  9. I don't think it's so horrible, in fact I think you are being smart and you know how to get around a financial problem.
