Going on holiday at Christmas - Is it ok to not buy everyone presents and spend the money on me instead?

I usually have a crap Christmas, it's totally boring and i never get anything i want and i spend $2000 - $2500 on others. So if i say to everyone to not get me anything im going on holiday do you think they will be upset?

I'm sure somebody will be upset. I would add that you will be broke after your holiday.
Tell them you're going on a religious retreat to get away from the crass commercialism and get back to the "true meaning of Christmas". That will keep them off your back until they realize you were lying to them and shun you for the rest of your life. But on the bright side, if they're not speaking to you any more, they won't buy you stuff you don't want and you won't be obligated to buy stuff for them. So hey, go for it, right?
No because if you tell people not to get your something because you are going on vacation and they do buy something anyways you are in no way obligated to return the favor, and if you do, buy cheap presents because remember..."It's the thought that counts!" lol If you throw that line at them they will feel guilty for expecting a gift or a more expensive gift. But I think it is totally fair to ask people to please not get you anything because you will be going on vacation and need to save your money. Christmas is about Jesus, not about buying gifts anyways, remind them of that if they get upset. Have a nice trip!
Sure!! Just go off by yourself and ignore your whole family! They won't think your a selfish jerk! Before you go you can stop at your mom's house and kick her right in the uterus, where she carried you for nine months, then punch your dad in the chest, right over his heart that holds his love for you. Mebbe if you have time you can stop at your brothers and sisters and tell them what useless idiots they are for making you so miserable during Christmas by buying you all those presents that you don't want. Sure hope you have kids that appreciate you as much as you appreciate your parents.
tell everybody your going on vacation,you don't want them to buy you anything,and that this year your not buying things for others either.it's your money.people always get junk for x-mas.toys and trinkets are for kids if your an adult you shouldn't get toys and crap.adults buy their own gifts

Oh no by all means go on vacation. Christmas is from the heart and you can take your heartless ^%&*(& on vacation since your friends are obviously not really your friends at all. Gifts are from your heart, not your wallet IDIOT. You can tone down the amount you spend on gifts to save for a vacation and thats fine; but when you post it as a request for redemtion here it's only showing your not worthy of friends in your life because your selfish. I suggest you go to the library and read up on XMAS some.
just buy for your close family and friends.....get them all something cheap. I usually just spend about $150 on others all together and I use the rest of my money on myself. I just buy presents for family and friends who I know will get me something......they shouldn't care how expensive their gift is as long as you give them something.
